The FCHS Board of Education met Monday Night for their regularly scheduled November meeting.
Interim Superintendent Diana Zurliene updated the board on the School Report Card, stating that FCHS received a Commendable rating. She elaborated that several factors go into the rating and she encouraged board members and anyone else interested to visit Illinoisreportcard.com for a complete breakdown of the report for all area schools.
She also reviewed the Annual Audit, which was just received. The district’s financial score was 4, which is the highest possible score. No major discrepancies were noted and no major corrective actions were advised. Superintendent Zurliene called it an “excellent audit”. The audit is available for inspection in the district office.
The board approved hiring NEC Environmental to complete asbestos removal from the gym floor at a cost of $135,000. A Maintenance Grant for $50,000 will be earmarked to assist with the removal.
The board proposed a Tax Levy of 4.98%, which will not require a Truth in Taxation Hearing. The levy will be voted on in the December meeting.
Wright Specialty Insurance contract for property/liability/casualty insurance was renewed, with the premium rising 13% to $84,487.
