Rivers and Travel Info

Rivers remain at low levels this weekend, however there are decent chances for rainfall in the forecast this week, the highest chances the region has seen in quite a while.

River stages this morning are as follows: the Little Wabash River east of Fairfield is at 4.25 feet. Flood stage is 17 feet. At Clay City the stage is 3.67 feet. Flood stage is 18 feet. At Carmi the stage is 2.98 feet, below the 27 foot flood stage. The Skillet Fork at Wayne City is at 4.99 feet. Flood stage is 15 feet. The Wabash River at Mt. Carmel is at 2.77 feet. Flood stage is 19 feet. Bonpas Creek at Browns reads 1.56 feet.

Rain chances for the area begin late tonight and increase Monday and Monday night and decrease Tuesday night. More chances for rain are in the forecast later this week, around Friday night and Saturday. Cooler weather is also expected, with high temperatures dropping to the mid 40s by Saturday.

Those traveling for the Thanksgiving holiday could run into some rainfall early this week, particularly to the west of the southern Illinois region. Otherwise no major travel troubles are expected.
