Officials with the VFW Post 8222 Auxiliary, presented prizes on Tuesday to the second and third place winners of this year’s Patriot’s Pen Essay Contest. Eighth grader Lydia Shelby from West Salem Grade School received third place in the county, while seventh grader Sydney Williams of West Salem won second place. First place was won by Lane Jones from Albion Grade School. His essay will advance to the district level of the contest.
