Illinois NAACP President Asked to Resign

The president of the Illinois NAACP is facing calls to resign over disparaging comments she made about migrants. During an October Zoom meeting with NAACP leaders from around the state, Teresa Haley compared migrants to “savages” and accused them of rape.

Governor JB Pritzker called the remarks “reprehensible,” adding that he hopes she apologizes. Haley has also been president of the Springfield NAACP branch since 2009.
