Wayne County VFW Memorial Post 4535 of Fairfield has announced this year’s Voice of Democracy winners. The Voice of Democracy is the VFW’s premier scholarship program. Each year more than 2 million dollars is awarded to high school students nationwide. Essays are judged on originality, content, and delivery. This year’s theme was “What are the greatest attributes of our Democracy”. Wayne County’s 1st Place winner receiving a $1,000 scholarship is Cecelia Choate. Cecelia is a student at Wayne City High School. Cecelia’s essay will now advance to the district competition. Other students receiving $250 scholarships for outstanding essays are Regan Wells and Trent Bliss. Both are students at Fairfield Community High School.
