Tuesday evening, Jefferson County authorities warned the public traveling on a portion of Highway 15 between Wayne City and Mount Vernon about a large group of cows out of a pasture following a Car vs. Cow Accident.
According to information from Jefferson County Sheriff’s officials, the incident happened around 9:50 PM in the area of Illinois 15 and North Shepherd Lane. They say 15-20 cows were out of a fenced pasture in the roadway. A car didn’t notice the cows were out until it’s too late and it crashed into one of them.
As of 11 PM, Jefferson County authorities report all of the remaining cows were back inside their pasture.
