Continental Tire Fire

Several area fire departments were called to Continental Tire in Mt. Vernon, IL Friday morning after it was reported there was a fire on the roof of one of the company’s buildings.

Reports out of the area said the fire was spotted from the parking lot, however it was not immediately known what was burning.  It was later determined the fire was in a dust collector, and was extinguished by employees before the fire department arrived.  Firemen did check to make sure the fire had not spread to other areas.

Fire departments from Mt. Vernon, as well as Bluford and Waltonville responded to the scene.  The fire was reported around 4:30 Friday morning.  No injuries were reported.
