Last week during the Eldorado Holiday Tournament, an Eldorado player in a viral social post is accused of violent play in their game against Hamilton County.
The Eldorado School Board will be holding a special board session on Tuesday at 7 PM. According to the information obtained by WFIW radio, the special meeting indicates there will be an executive session to discuss the appointment, employment, compensation, discipline, or dismissal of a specific employee or office of public body.
Following the closed session, the board will consider the suspension or termination of an at-will employment of athletic coaches and consider naming an interim coach.
Eldorado competes with Edwards County, Carmi-White County, Fairfield, Flora, and Hamilton County as a member of the Black Diamond Conference. Other members of the Black Diamond include Johnston City, Goreville, Vienna, Sesser-Vailer, Trico, and Ziegler-Royalton, and Christopher.
The game scheduled for Tuesday between Eldorado and Mount Carmel according to the Eldorado School Facebook Page has been cancelled.
On Friday, Eldorado School Officials released a public statement on their social media pages. The statement says, “Eldorado High School is actively addressing the recent incident during the Eagles vs. Foxes boys varsity basketball game. Our administration is conducting a thorough investigation in collaboration with officials from both schools. Eldorado CUSD 4 will not tolerate the unsportsmanlike behavior displayed during Thursday’s game and the student involved will face appropriate consequences. Immediately after the game, Eldorado promptly reported the incident to the Illinois High School Athletic Association and is in close cooperation with them. For confidentiality reasons, we refrain from commenting on specific disciplinary actions regarding students or staff.“
