A few traffic accidents were reported in Wayne County over the New Year’s Holiday Weekend.
In Saturday at 11:40 PM, Wayne County Sheriff Officials were on the scene of a hit and run accident at the intersection of County Highway 1 and County Highway 16 in Elm River Township.
According to reports, a 2016 Freightliner operated by Jasufi Faton of Yorkville, IL when the first semi with trailer passed Faton’s unit and collided with the front his truck. Faton refused treatment at the scene. The truck Faton was driving was owned by DRA Incorporated. Deputies were on scene of the crash for 40 minutes. No injuries were reported and over $1500 was sustained to Faton’s truck.
On Sunday Morning, Wayne County Sheriff’s officials were on the scene of a car vs. deer accident in Arrington Township. The accident at 7:15 AM Sunday involved a 2004 Chrysler 300 operated by Brodie M. Toombs of Wayne City. According to sheriff’s officials, Toombs was driving westbound on IL Highway 15 when a deer came into the path of Toombs. The vehicle was towed away from the scene. No injuries were reported. Over $1500 was estimated for damages to Toomb’s vehicle.
