Trash in Cisne is a situation that is continuing to pop up in the village. In December, WFIW News reported that the village dumpsters were being closed off because of abuse. Since then, the village compost area has also been closed off until further notice. According to the village’s group on Facebook, the problem is now spilling over to businesses in the community. Officials in the village say that the waste bins provided by the trash service provider are for residents only, not for those who want to just put their trash. Dumpsters are for use on commercial property by the business only. Village officials say the village has one of the lowest trash rates in the area and part of that is based on the anticipated waste that comes out of the village. Those who are allowing the additional waste from outside family are putting the rate that consumers are paying for trash service at risk.
