Several sentences were handed down in Wayne County Court on Tuesday.
19-year-old Julia L. Cox of Eldorado pled guilty to unlawful possession of cannabis, a class B misdemeanor. Cox was required to pay $1461 in court costs.
49-year-old Phillip A. Newman of Taylorville was sentenced on a count of obstructing justice. Newman was sentenced to a year of time in the IDOC with credit of 245 days of time served. Newman is serving a sentence out of White County that was handed down a year ago for violating the sex offender registry. The sentence for White County was for 3 years with credit for 29 days served. Following the sentence, Newman will serve 6 months of mandatory supervised release and will pay court costs of $680 in Wayne County.
56-Year-old Christopher W. Hedden of Sims was sentenced in court Tuesday for unlawful possession of meth. The incident dated back to February of 2023. Hedden will serve 18 months of probation and will be required to pay court costs of $3990.
A Fairfield Man will spend the next 3 years in the IDOC and will have 6 months of mandatory supervised release following his sentence in Wayne County. Judge Denton Aud sentenced 39-year-old James A. Chambers of Fairfield on the count of unlawful residence of a child sex offender. The offense took place in July of 2023. As part of the plea agreement, a charge of unlawful possession of meth that dated back to October 24th were dismissed.
A Bicknell Woman was sentenced in Wayne County, Illinois Court on Tuesday on a single count of unlawful possession of meth. 51-year-old Melissa R. Auberry was sentenced to 18 months of probation and will be required to pay $4865 in court costs. The incident took place in August of 2023.
