A fire in West Frankfort Saturday destroyed a home and killed five family pets.
Reports said no one was injured, but at least five animals died in the fire. West Frankfort Fire Chief Derek Sailliez said in the report the family lost everything in the fire, and had no home insurance. Fire officials arrived at the scene around noon Saturday. Multiple departments responded. Three family members were inside the house at the time of the fire but were able to get out.
A cause of the fire was not immediately determined, but officials didn’t believe there was any suspicious activity.
