Anna Lou (Simpson) Taylor, 94, Fairfield

Anna Lou (Simpson) Taylor passed away on Tuesday, February 6, 2024, at Fairfield Memorial Hospital’s Skilled Care Unit.  Anna Lou was born on December 26, 1929, the 11th of 12 children born to Miles and Lulu (Wright) Simpson.

She married Fred M. Taylor of Geff on July 25, 1948.  He preceded her in death on April 4, 2016.  Anna Lou was a devoted farm wife and mother to their 5 children.  She was a faithful member of Bethel United Methodist Church of rural Fairfield for over 70 years.

Anna Lou is survived by her 5 children, Don (Angela) Taylor of Point Richmond, California; Norman (Bernie) Taylor of rural Fairfield; Terry (Colleen) Taylor of Evansville, IN; Ken (Jala) Taylor of rural Fairfield; and daughter Gayla (Gary) Templeman, of Fairfield.  She is also survived by 8 grandchildren, Tara (Lenny) Hasty, David (Leslee) Taylor, Blake Taylor, Jessica (Chad) Barbre, Mattie (Nick) Egloff, Jack Taylor, Karlie Taylor, and Chase Taylor.  Anna Lou was especially proud of her 5 great-grandchildren, Anna Grace Taylor, Paisley Barbre, Emersyn Barbre, Nash Barbre, and Xander Hasty.  Anna Lou is also survived by brothers, Willard (Bill) Simpson and Robert (Bob) Simpson and 2 sisters-in-law, Lelia (Wayne) Smith and Marjorie Simpson and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Fred M. Taylor; her parents, Miles and Lulu Simpson; siblings Ruby Vanway, Bert Simpson, Harold Simpson, Charles Simpson, Orion (Pug) Simpson, Mary Rose Johnson, Vern Simpson, Lindy Simpson, and Elias Simpson.

Funeral services for Anna Lou Taylor will be held on Saturday, February 10, at 10:00 AM at the Johnson and Vaughn Funeral Home with burial in Maple Hill Cemetery.

A visitation will be held on Friday, February 9 at the funeral home from 5:00-7:00 PM.  Memorials may be made to the Bethel United Methodist Church, Wayne County Quilts of Valor, or the FMH Skilled Care Activity Fund.
