The Salem Police Department is saddened to announce the passing of retired K-9 Freddy.
K-9 Freddy served the City of Salem and surrounding area for nearly 7 years from 2015-2022. Throughout his career K-9 Freddy was an invaluable member of the city’s police department. According to officials with the Salem Police Department, he was deployed hundreds if not thousands of times for everything from person tracks, narcotics and area searches, to apprehensions. He always served with loyalty and courage. K-9 Freddy and his handler also conducted numerous demonstrations for local schools and community groups.
