Reports out of Mt. Vernon say an 18 year old man has been formally charged pending a detention hearing on weapons charges.
Dreydyn Hart faces formal charges of possession of a stolen firearm, possession of a firearm without a valid FOID card and aggravated unlawful use of a weapon and aggravated unlawful use of a weapon as a minor, all felonies.
Police responded to a location in the 300 block of South Ninth Street in Mt. Vernon around 1 a.m. this past Wednesday on a report of a fight at DeeBee’s Bar. Upon arrival, one subject had fled on foot but was quickly captured. A search of a vehicle in the bar’s parking lot revealed, according to the report, a loaded, stolen firearm. Witnesses said Hart was the person in possession of the weapon, however he had left the parking lot as police came upon the scene. He was later located on Thursday and brought to the police station for an interview, and later taken into custody and taken to the Jefferson County Jail. He’s in custody pending a detention hearing set for this coming Tuesday.
