Ruby Louella (Dugan) Wood, 87, Fairfield

Ruby Louella (Dugan) Wood passed away on Tuesday, February 6, 2024, at Fairfield Memorial Hospital’s Skilled Care Unit, where she received excellent and loving care. Ruby was born on June 10, 1936, one of six children born to Milton and Zelma (Hough) Dugan.
She married Kenneth E. Wood, former Mayor of Fairfield, on August 25, 1955. He preceded her death on December 2, 1994. Ruby was a homemaker and enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was a member of the First Christian Church of Fairfield.

Ruby is survived by her two daughters, Keyna (Faron) Warren of Fairfield and Kelly (John) Basnett of Fairfield, five grandchildren, Holly (Ryan) Legg of Newburgh, IN, Kenny (Amy) Basnett of Morgantown, WV, Kyla (Clint) Lum of Greenbrier, TN, Xylinn (Adam) Zubaly of Battle Creek, MI, and Zoe (Will) Griffith of Evansville, IN, and thirteen great-grandchildren.

Ruby is also survived by one sister, Wilma Coggan of Leesburg, FL.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Kenneth Wood, her parents, one brother, Robert Dugan, three sisters, Marjorie Van Matre, Wanda Cokley, and Letha Rusk.

Funeral services for Ruby Wood will be held on Saturday, February 17, 2024, at 11:00 AM with visitation from 10:00 AM until the time of service at the Johnson and Vaughn Funeral Home. Kenny Basnett, Ruby’s grandson, will officiate the service. Burial to follow at Maple Hill Cemetery.

Special thanks from the family are extended to Ruby’s devoted in-home caregivers who blessed her life over the past months, Linda, Wendi, Tina, Korey, Shelby, Valerie, Bev, Nyssa, and Lisa.

Memorials may be made to the First Christian Church of Fairfield and will be accepted at the Johnson and Vaughn Funeral Home.
