Bill Would Help People Moving From Other States Because of Healthcare Restrictions

An Illinois lawmaker is sponsoring a bill to help residents who move to Illinois from other states because of restrictions on healthcare and other personal issues. The bill is a response to laws in some states that ban reproductive and gender-affirming healthcare, or that ban certain books. The bill would provide a 500-dollar tax credit for residents moving to Illinois who are seeking medical care that is restricted in their home state. The measure — sponsored by State Representative Kelly Cassidy — is under consideration in the House rules committee.
