Wx & River Info

Forecasters at the National Weather Service in Paducah, Kentucky are still keeping an eye on a possibility of strong and severe weather in the region for next week.

Forecasters say Tuesday into Wednesday is the current time frame for the possibility of stormy weather to develop. Mild temperatures are expected early next week prior to the storms developing, with some record high temperatures a possibility. Colder temperatures are then expected later in the week. Keep tuned to WFIW/WOKZ for the latest in severe weather information.

The expected rainfall should also help with recent fire concerns in the area. Reports Friday indicated at least one significant brush fire in southwestern Indiana, and part of Interstate 57 in Franklin County was reduced to one lane for a time Friday as crews were batting field and brush fires. Higher relative humidity and less wind should help conditions today.

At Carmi the stage is 6.15 feet. Flood stage is 27 feet. The Skillet Fork at Wayne City reads 5.84 feet. Flood stage is 15 feet. The Wabash River at Mt. Carmel is at 5.25 feet. Flood stage is 19 feet.
