Ray Tate appeared via zoom in Wayne County Court on Tuesday in front of judge Denton Aud. Tate is currently representing himself after his dismissed his public defender, Heidi Hoffee last year. Tate is trying to vacate his current sentence and get a new trial.
Assistant Attorney General Michael Falagario and Wayne County States Attorney Kevin Kakac both were in opposition to Tate and his request for an extension based on his access to the law library at the prison due to his housing situation. Both Falagario and Kakac made mention of Judge Molt’s comments about standby council, but there was no transcript available for Judge Aud to review.
Due to the inability to review the transcript, the case was continued to March 26th at 1 PM. By that time, it expected that a transcript will be available from the July 2023 court appearance.
