Terry Lee Tackitt Sr., age 81, of Yale, Illinois, passed away Tuesday, February 20, 2024, at his home.
He was born June 10, 1942, in Flora, the son of Venita Tackitt. Terry was united in marriage to Lula Bell Taylor on July 16, 1966, in Louisville, and together they shared 24 wedding anniversaries until her passing on January 20, 1991.
Terry was an entrepreneur and jack-of-all-trades. Terry worked in the oil field for Billingsley Oil in Clay City before owning and operating Terry’s Welding Service in Flora and Terry’s Auto Dealership in Yale. He was an excellent mechanic and could fix anything. He was a lifetime member of the Flora Moose Lodge 1384. Terry enjoyed spending time with his cats and watching western movies and shows.
He is survived by his son: Terry Lee Tackitt Jr. of Iuka; daughter Rebecca Anderson (Johnny Hatcher) of Cisne; 4 grandchildren: Damien Sons of Xenia, Lou Ann Tackitt (Navin Harmon) of Xenia, Alyssa Sons of Flora, and Trisha Tackitt (Ryan Schilling) of Louisville; 5 great grandchildren: Khloe Schilling, Clayton Schilling, Nova Schilling, Karsyn Atkisson Kaislee Atkisson, and another grandchild on-the-way; half-brother: Melvin (Brenda) Colclasure of Marion; and half-sister: Patsy (John) Williams of Flora.
He is preceded in passing by his mother; wife; and half-brother: Alan Colclasure.
