Although no severe weather is expected this week in the area, this is Severe Weather Preparedness Week in Illinois. Residents are encouraged to join the National Weather Service and the Illinois Emergency Management Agency as they take time each day to highlight various aspects of being prepared for severe weather. The statewide Tornado Drill is set for Wednesday morning at 11 a.m. The daily focus will be on Receiving Weather Information on Monday, Lightning Safety on Tuesday, Tornado Safety on Wednesday, Hail and Wind Safety on Thursday and Flood Safety on Friday.
