Payrolls in Illinois rose last month while the jobless rate in the state held steady. The Illinois Department of Employment Security reports the unemployment rate remains at four-point-seven percent. The national jobless rate was one percentage point lower at three-point-seven percent. Non-farm payrolls increased by more than 17-hundred last month. Deputy Governor Andy Manar calls the latest figures an encouraging start to the new year.
