Election Day in Illinois

By Tony Collins Mar 19, 2024 | 6:05 AM

Voters across Illinois head to the polls today in the state’s primary election. The top of the ballot is the presidential primary, though President Biden and former President Trump have already secured their party’s respective nominations. Chief Justice Anne Burke of the Illinois Supreme Court has announced her retirement, so voters will be deciding nominees for that vacancy. No Republican has filed for the job. First District Appellate Justice Joy Cunningham was named by the court to succeed Burke in the interim. She’ll be running against Illinois Appellate Court Justice Jesse Reyes. Ballots will also be cast in competitive congressional races around the state as well as local primaries.

Polls are open from 6 AM until 7 PM this evening. We will provide the final information on area elections this evening on our website at WFIWRadio.com
