Hamilton County Decides Primary Races

There were a few contested races in Hamilton County on Tuesday as it was election day in the state of Illinois.

In the full-term for county board, John F. Mead was the top vote getter for a 4-year term at 1069 votes compared to 778 votes for John Carrell and Gelnn E. Gelfius’s 482 votes. Mead and Carrell both won to square off against Mary Ann Hopfinger in November.

In the 2-year term for county board on the republican side, Landon Vaughan defeated Ronald Winterheimer 1062 to 366.. Vaughan will face a battle with democrat Vuel York in November.

For Coroner, Robert R. Miller defeated Jason D. Young for the on the republican side 783-693.

Turnout in Hamilton County was 34.4% in Tuesday’s Primary Election.
