Even though it was Primary Election Day, it was a slow turnout throughout much of the area.
Many counties in our area were in the lower 30% area when it came to voter turnout. Of those voters, the vast majority in the area were voting on the republican ballot.
Edwards County didn’t have any contested county-wide races on the ballot for the primary and will not have any on the General Election Ballot. The county however had a turnout of 33.36 percent.
Many other area counties also reported slow voter turnout. Wayne County had a turnout of 34.48 percent while Hamilton County had a turnout of 34.44 percent. Clay County reported turnout of 31.74 percent. Turnout in Jefferson County was 23.58 percent, 21.79 percent in Marion County, and 27.37 percent in Franklin County. In Gallatin County, turnout was 32.2 percent. White County saw a turnout of 23.98%. Richland County reported 22.12% voter turnout.
