Wilma L. Strine, 90, of West Salem

Wilma L. Strine, 90, of West Salem, Illinois passed away Tuesday, March 19, 2024 at the Village of Holly Brook in Mt. Carmel, Illinois surrounded by her loving family.

She was born on July 5, 1933 in Fairfield, Illinois, the daughter of Charles and Inez (Foster) Sutherland.  On May 3, 1964 she married Paul Strine and to this marriage she became a step mother to his sons Jerry and Danny Strine.  Wilma and Paul celebrated 27 years of marriage prior to his death in February of 1992.

Wilma and her husband attended Christ Chapel Church in Evansville, Indiana.  After her husband’s death she attended the Moravian Church in West Salem, Illinois.  Wilma enjoyed traveling, shopping, and going out to eat with friends.  She was a wonderful cook and loved spending holidays with her family.  Her sons, daughter-in-laws, and grandchildren held a very special place in her heart.

Wilma leaves behind her sons, Jerry Strine and Danny (Frances) Strine; grandchildren, Dena (Brian) Chamberlain, Ryan Strineand Brent (Melissa) Strine; great-grandchildren Maeve Chamberlain, Reid Chamberlain, Rylan Strine, Camryn Strineand Blake Strine; siblings Phyllis Sutherland and Don (Karen) Sutherland; an uncle, Everett Foster; and several nieces and nephews.

Wilma was preceded in death by her husband, parents, a daughter-in-law Kimala Jo Strine, granddaughter Erin Michelle Strine, and a sister, Sharon Talbert.

Family and friends are invited to gather for a visitation from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. on Friday, March 22, 2024 at Ingram-Meridith Funeral Home in West Salem, Illinois with funeral services at 12:00 p.m. immediately following visitation.  Wilma will be laid to rest next to her beloved husband in the Moravian Cemetery in West Salem, Illinois.

Memorial contributions may be made in Wilma’s memory to the West Salem Senior Citizens Center with envelopes available at Ingram-Meridith Funeral Home, 201 East Church Street, West Salem, Illinois.
