Sally Ann Lee

Sally Ann Lee, 87, a long-time resident of Barnhill, passed away at 1:23 AM, Wednesday, April 24, 2024, at Stonebridge Memory Care in Mt. Vernon, IL.  Born on November 25, 1936, in Mt. Pleasant, MI to Blodwyn (Waldt) McGee and Alexander Smith McGee, Sally lived most of her life in Wayne County.  She attended school in Geff and Fairfield.  She married Frank Lee on July 14, 1957, and they were married until his death in 2020.  For the past year, she had been in ill health and resided at Brookstone Estates in Fairfield before moving to Stonebridge Memory Care.

Sally was a long-time member of Richland Congregational Christian Church where she was active as song leader and Sunday School Teacher and more recently the First Christian Church of Fairfield.  Workplaces included L.J. Keith and People’s National Bank of Fairfield.  She was an avid gardener and enjoyed reading books of every genre.

She is survived by her four children and their families: Kathy (Bill) Book of Barnhill, Linda (Steve) Thomason of Live Oak, FL, Glen (Tammy) Lee of Barnhill, and Brian Lee of Mt. Vernon.  Sally also leaves nine grandchildren: Adam Book, Amy Book Epley, Aaron Book, LeeAnn Book Leeds, Matthew Thomason, Kevin Thomason, Derek Lee, Brandon Lee, and Jordan Lee Adams, and 14 great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her siblings- Alex McGee Jr. and Beverly Cole, and her husband Frank.

Funeral services for Sally Ann Lee will be held at 1 PM on Monday April 29th at Johnson and Vaughn Funeral Home, with visitation from 11 AM until the time of service.  Burial will follow in Maple Hill Cemetery.  Pastor Melissa Garrison will officiate.  Memorials in her honor may be made to Stonebridge Memory Care of Mt. Vernon, IL and will be accepted at the funeral home.
