Madeline Joyce Lamp

Madeline Joyce Lamp. 77, of Carmi passed away on Saturday, May 4, 2024, at her home surrounded by her family.  She was born December 4, 1946, in Burnt Prairie Township, IL, the daughter of Martin and Coralee (Funkhouser) Vaupel.  Madeline married Robert W. Lamp on August 7, 1964, and he preceded her in death on March 17, 2009. She was a member of First Baptist Church in Carmi. Madeline retired in 2012 as a rural mail carrier.  She loved being outside, whether it was mowing or working in her garden. She enjoyed cooking, but her greatest joy was taking care of her family.

Madeline is survived by her two daughters, Barbara (Kevin) McArthy of Enfield, and Anna (Brooks) York of Carmi; two sons, Robert Wayne, Jr. “Bobby” (Dawn) Lamp of Carmi and Marty (Meredith) Lamp of Evansville, IN; eight grandchildren, Matthew (Courtney) McArthy, Amanda (Brad) Wehlermann, Adrian (Trevor) Warren, John (Alaina) Lamp, Justin (Mary Carolyn) Lamp, and Jason Lamp, Cal and Laney York; six great-grandchildren, Mattie, Macie, and  Micah McArthy, Rhett and Pierce Wehlermann, and Layne Warren; a sister, Anna Louise Dennis; sister-in-law, Linda Vaupel of Salem; two brothers-in-law, Kenny (Judy) Lamp of Carmi and James Buttry of Herald and numerous nieces, nephews and others who called her Grandma or Mimi.  She was preceded in death by her parents, husband and six siblings, Lowell, Lloyd, Floyd, Luther and Elosie Vaupel, and Mary Helen Young.

Funeral Service for Madeline Lamp, 77, of Carmi will be held at  2:00 p.m., on Saturday, May 11, 2024, at First Baptist Church in Carmi. Burial will follow in Bruce Chapel Cemetery in Carmi. Visitation will be held on Saturday, May 11, 2024 from 11:00 a.m. until service time at 2:00 p.m. at First Baptist Church in Carmi. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Madeline’s memory to White County Cheering for a Cure and will be accepted at Campbell Funeral Home, 609 W. Main St., Carmi, IL 62821 who is assisting the family with arrangements.
