Adam Wayne Williams, age 37, of Rinard, Illinois, passed away Tuesday afternoon, May 7, 2024, at his home surrounded by his family and friends.
He was born March 27, 1987, in Flora, the son of Bradley Dean and Joyce Lyn (Curtis) Williams. Adam began dating Chelsea Ann Sulsberger on May 14, 2007, and four years later they were married at the Flora Depot on May 14, 2011.
Adam earned his bachelor’s degree in administration of justice from Southern Illinois University Carbondale. He had been employed as a federal revenue officer for the Internal Revenue Service since graduating in 2009. Along the way he had created wonderful relationships with co-workers and was extremely grateful for his mentor and boss, Sheila.
Adam enjoyed spending every second he could with his sons whether it be running football plays in the yard or frequent family game nights in which he inevitably would let them win. There was nothing they could ask of him that he wouldn’t try to do or make happen.
He and Chelsea’s favorite thing to do together was listen to live music. Over the past 17 years they have gone to dozens of concerts and music festivals which in turn has created countless beautiful memories.
Adam has the best group of life-long friends in which he spent time with turkey hunting in Hardin County or playing in golf scrambles at the local golf course. He cherished the
countless hours spent with them reliving their football days and talking about how time has flown by while watching all of their kids play in the yard.
Adam was very passionate about our local JFL program. He gave 100% to the kids and the coaches every day. It was a priority for him that every kid felt seen and important. He enjoyed coaching, especially because it was coaching his son while alongside his brother.
He is survived by his wife: Chelsea Williams of Rinard; 2 sons: Sawyer and Silas Williams of Rinard; parents: Brad and Joyce Williams of Rinard; brother: Dalton (Lexi) Williams of Flora; sister: Autumn (Quentin) Garrison of Rinard; sister-in-law: Marlee Sulsberger of Missoula, Montana; paternal grandparents: Everett (Karen Anne) Willams and Jerry Williams; father-in-law: Jim Sulsberger; mother-in-law: Lesa (Rich) Cook; uncles: Wade (Brenda) Williams, Randy (Barbara) Curtis, Jerry Curtis, Donald (Lorenza) Curtis, and Luke Curtis; aunts: Penny (Bob) Williams and Donna Holtzinger; nieces and nephews: Brooklyn, Wyatt, and Rhett Williams, and Ezra Garrison; best friend: Jeremy (Whitney) Ruger; and longtime loyal companions: Rigby and Honey Williams.
He was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents: Clinard and Ruby Curtis; an uncle: Ken Curtis; and aunts: Marolyn Curtis, Carolyn Patrick, Barbara Pruitt, Marlene Cosner, and Elaine Bullard.
