Jason Scott “Jay” Compton, 56, of Grayville, Illinois, died Tuesday, May 14, 2024, at his home. He was born March 21, 1968, in Mt. Carmel, Illinois, the son of Wallace Max Compton and Shirley Ilene (Eaton) Compton.
Jay was a carpenter. He enjoyed playing pool, washers, and cards.
Survivors include sons Tyler (Jamie) Compton of Grayville, Illinois, and Braden Compton of Olney, Illinois; brother Jeff Compton of Grayville, Illinois; sisters Kim Scarboro of Melbourne, Florida, Neina Blizzard of Asheville, North Carolina, and Ronna Loppnow of Houston, Texas; grandchild Deacon; and dear friends Sam Hosman, Cindy Anselment, and Mike Austin.
He is preceded in death by his parents.
In keeping with his wishes, Jay’s remains were cremated and there will be a private family service.
A gathering of family and friends will be at 4:00 pm, Friday, May 17, 2024, at the home of Jay’s brother, Jeff Compton, 937 North Court Street, Grayville, Illinois.
Cook Funeral Chapel in Grayville, Illinois, is assisting the family.
