Gene Francis Churchill was born October 16, 1942 to Clayton and Doris Churchill in Carson City, MI. He was predeceased by his parents, his two brothers, Phillip and Paul, and his sister-in-law Monique Churchill. He is survived by his sister-in-law Shirley Churchill, his niece, Dianna Richards, and his nephew, Phillip Churchill, Jr.
Gene passed to his heavenly home on June 17, 2024 at his home with family by his side. He retired from Federal Mogul as Machining Supervisor after 42 years minus a 6 ½ year hiatus over the years 1981-1987 that he spent working with his brother, Phil, in the oil fields in Fairfield, IL. Gene was an avid and excellent golfer, hunter, fisherman, and enjoyed cutting wood.
Gene married (Carol) Dawn Anderson on July 30, 1965, and they built a life together for nearly 59 years. Gene was a carpenter. He built the first family home where he lived with Dawn and his two sons, Clay and Layne, and throughout his life undertook building and remodeling projects for friends and family. He was predeceased by his parents-in-law, Russell and Frances Anderson, and his sisters and brothers-in-law, Arlene Hill, Jean and Roy Afton, Jan Anderson, and Max Freeland. He is survived by wife, Dawn, his two sons, Clay and Layne, and his daughters-in-law, Chanda and Victoria. He is also survived by brothers and sisters-in-law Joyce and Lynn Lewis, Gordon (Tuff) Anderson and Jo Shaft, Marv and O’Linda Anderson, Ron Anderson, Wayne and Janice Anderson, Keith and Linda Anderson, Nancy Freeland, Gary and Dianne Anderson, Susan and Marv Knauf, Sally and John Anderson, Ken and Sue Anderson, Bonnie and Steve Butler, Dean and Francine Anderson, and many nieces , nephews and friends.
Gene’s family will be greeting friends and relatives for a time of visitation from 2:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m. on Sunday, June 23rd, 2024, at North Ridge Funeral Home, 88 E Division Street, Sparta, MI 49345. The funeral service will be celebrated at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, June 24th, 2024, at Bailey Christian Church, 17635 Pearl St, Bailey, MI 49303, following a one-hour visitation prior from 10:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m.
