Laura Marie Edwards, 94, of Norris City, passed away on Tuesday, June 18, 2024, at Hamilton Memorial Hospital in McLeansboro. She was born on February 11, 1930, in Junction, Illinois, the daughter of James Madison and Mary Eunice (Willis) Walters. Laura married William Benjamin “Jack” Edwards on July 1, 1950, and he survives. She graduated from Equality High School and worked as a seamstress. Laura was an instructor at a sewing factory. She later worked at a department store in Chicago. Laura was a member of Ditney Ridge Baptist Church. She enjoyed sewing and loved working with flowers. Laura could put anything into the ground and it would grow.
In addition to her husband Jack Edwards of Norris City, IL, Laura is survived by her sons, Bruce Edwards of Norris City, IL. and Dennis (Debra) Edwards of Newton, IL; grandchildren, Jason Edwards, Lindsey Edwards, Melissa Stanley, Jacob Edwards and Allison Marie Edwards; ten great-grandchildren; and a sister, Doris (Charles) Morton of Equality, IL. She is preceded in death by her parents, and siblings, Edith Beard, Anna Mae Green, William Walters, Nancy Sheppard, John Walters, Hiram Walters and Evert Walters.
Funeral Services for Laura Marie Edwards will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Monday, June 24, 2024, at Ditney Ridge Baptist Church, with burial at Ditney Ridge Cemetery. Family and friends may visit from 10:00 a.m. until time of service on Monday, June 24, 2024, at Ditney Ridge Baptist Church. Campbell Funeral Home in Norris City is in charge of arrangements.
