WAYNE COUNTY SHERIFF’S DEPARTMENT MAKE ARREST/ HANDLE TWO CRASHES OVER THE WEEKEND

Wayne County Sheriff’s Deputies Saturday arrested 45-year-old Justin D. Drew of Wayne City on a failure to appear warrant issued by Wayne County. The warrant pertained to two counts of operating a motor vehicle with a cancelled, revoked, or suspended registration. Drew was booked into the Wayne County Jail.

 

Wayne County Sheriff’s Deputies responded to a car fire around midnight (Monday) on I-64 westbound at milepost 106.   65-year-old Michael Dugger from Benton told deputies that he struck a raccoon while driving westbound on i-64 near milepost 112. Dugger noticed smoke coming from the vehicle around milepost 106, pulled over, and discovered a small fire under the hood in the engine compartment.  Due to damage to the vehicle, it was towed from the scene.  Dugger was not injured.

 

At 11:30 AM last Friday, deputies were dispatched to a car versus deer collision on the 161 Extension in Indian Prairie Township. Luther L. Wright, a 59-year-old resident of Mill Shoals, was driving his 1994 Dodge 1500 eastbound on the 161 Extension close to County Road 1025 East when a deer suddenly crossed his path. The collision between Wright’s vehicle and the deer resulted in over $1500 worth of damage to the Dodge. No injuries were sustained in the accident.
