The Illinois Department of Transportation has announced the replacement of a box culvert on US Route 45, just south of Hickory Hills Lane in Clay County, starting today( Monday). During the replacement work, only local traffic will be allowed on US Route 45 between Flora and Louisville. A detour using US 50, Xenia/Iola Road, and Kinmundy Road will be in place. The new box culvert aims to provide a safer and smoother driving surface for motorists, with work expected to be finished by July 11th. Motorists are advised to follow the posted detour or find an alternate route, pay attention to signs and changed conditions in work zones, adhere to speed limits, avoid mobile device use, and watch for workers and equipment.
