Wayne County Sheriff’s Deputies Friday afternoon (July 13th) at approximately 1:20 responded to a report of a subject sitting in a vehicle on County Highway 12 near County Road 1500N. Once on the scene, the subject in the vehicle was identified as 39-year-old George Rankin IV from Charleston, IL appeared to be having complications from suspected drug use. Wayne City Ambulance personnel transported Rankin to Fairfield Memorial Hospital Emergency Room. Deputies discovered Rankin was in possession of approximately 19 grams of methamphetamine. After being released by the emergency room staff, Rankin was placed under arrest and transported to the Wayne County Jail where he awaits a detainment hearing.
