Two individuals from Mt. Vernon were arrested early on a Monday morning on charges related to drugs and firearms.
The Mt. Vernon Police Department and Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office Joint Narcotics Unit, along with the U.S. Marshals Fugitive Task Force just after 7 o’clock conducted the arrest at a residence on E. Saddle Club Road in Belle Rive (18526 E. Saddle Club Rd) where the primary residents, 45-year-old Darren D. Edmison and 36-year-old Amber M. McCowen, were located. The arrest warrants were issued for prior Controlled Substance Trafficking charges in Jefferson County. While executing the warrants, law enforcement observed evidence of criminal activity within the residence.
The Narcotics Unit obtained a search warrant for the home, leading to the discovery that Edmison and McCowen were in possession of methamphetamine and stolen firearms. Both individuals were taken to the Jefferson County Justice Center, where Edmison faced charges including Armed Violence, Possession with the Intent to Deliver 5-15 grams of Methamphetamine, Possession of a stolen firearm, and the previous warrant. McCowen was charged with Armed Violence, Possession with the Intent to Deliver 5-15 grams of Methamphetamine, and was also detained based on the prior warrant.
