Web Printing Controls, a division of Baldwin Vision Systems headquartered in St. Louis announced Friday they are closing the Fairfield facility effective October 31st.  Web Printing is a world leader in designing, developing, and manufacturing real-time closed loop automation equipment, primarily for the web offset printing industry and offers a full line of products focused on color control, color register, web positioning, finishing and other aspects of producing quality commercial, newspaper and packaging print, as well as technical services and support capabilities to customers around the globe.  Web Printing was acquired by Baldwin on January 17th, 2014.  Kelly Morgano, a spokesperson for the company issued this statement Friday in regards to the closing;

“It was an exceedingly difficult decision to close this facility because of what it means to those team members in our span of care.  Anytime something like this happens—as it is very rare within our organization—it comes after we have the given utmost consideration to all options. We truly take the loss of these dedicated hard-working people to heart and are trying to find alternate roles for as many as possible somewhere else in our organization. For those who cannot make that choice, we’ve committed to support them in finding other employment. Again, our decision is one that is very difficult. But, to never let anyone go under any circumstances would be shirking our responsibility to provide as many people as possible in our organization with a viable future and a sustainable business.”

The closing of the Fairfield facility will affect 38 employees as operations will be moved to the Green Bay, Wisconsin plant and also to one of their India locations.
