WAYNE CITY SCHOOL DISTRICT BOARD OF EDUCATION MEETING RECAP FROM THURSDAY JULY 25TH

The regular July meeting of the Wayne City Board of Education took place last Thursday, July 25th.

During the meeting, Jeff Taylor, from the Wayne County Sheriff’s Department and the newly appointed School Resource Officer (SRO) for Wayne City CUSD, was in attendance to introduce himself to both the Board members and visitors.

Several consent agenda items were approved by the Board, which included the minutes from the June meeting, the removal of closed session minutes from January 2023, the establishment of an Educational Affiliation Agreement with SIU-C, and the approval of a job description for a School-Family Liaison.

 

In terms of personnel matters, Misty Boyd was hired as a long-term substitute for the part-time art position, Justin Slover was appointed as the Junior High Boys JV Basketball Coach, Brianna Anderson was selected as the High School Head Softball Coach, Marcie Caldwell was named as the Assistant High School Softball Coach, and Janice McCormick was designated as the School-Family Liaison.

 

Additionally, the Board ratified a three-year agreement with Bushue HR, Inc for human resource, risk management, and insurance consulting services. They also approved the update of PRESS Policy Issue 115 and the adoption of a new policy manual. The treasurer’s bond for Angie Kelly, the school treasurer, was renewed, and the outdoor classroom/play area project was awarded to Shores Builders from Centralia.

 

The Board announced that the next regularly scheduled meeting is set for Thursday, August 15, at 6:00 pm in the administrative conference room.
