ILLINOIS PRINCIPALS ASSOCIATION PRESIDENT FROM RICHLAND COUNTY, SPENT TIME IN THE EDWARDS COUNTY UNIT SCHOOL DISTRICT

The Illinois Principals Association (IPA) has announced that Mrs. Cris Edwards, the principal of Richland County Elementary School in Olney, will assume the role of President of the IPA for the 2024-2025 school term. Edwards, a member of the Illinois Principals Association since 2007, has held various leadership positions within the organization. She recently served as the State Director for the Wabash Valley region, a member of the IPA Board of Directors, and was honored as the Illinois Elementary Principal of the Year in 2023. Her contributions to education have been recognized through accolades such as the Wabash Valley “Reaching Out & Building Bridges” award in 2021 and the Wabash Valley Herman Graves award in 2019.

Edwards embarked on her educational career in 1992 as a Language Arts & Current Events teacher in Tucson, Arizona. She later taught Economics, Government, & Language Arts at Edwards County High School in Albion before transitioning to Parkview Junior High School in Lawrenceville as a Social Sciences teacher. In 2007, she took on an administrative role within the Richland County School District.

 

Cris Edwards holds a Bachelor of Science in Education and a Master of Education in Educational Administration from Eastern Illinois University. She currently resides in Olney with her husband Greg, who is a retired computer programmer.

 

The Illinois Principals Association, a distinguished leadership organization, caters to over 6,500 educational leaders across the state of Illinois.
