Reports out of Marion County say a Fairfield man has been sentenced to six years in prison following a guilty plea in Marion County Court this past Thursday on a burglary charge.

46-year-old Daniel Brockett has admitted to entering a building in the 7300 block of the Route 161 extension in rural Iuka with the intent to commit theft.  A second count of residential burglary was dismissed as part of the plea.  Brockett was sentenced to serve the time consecutively with a five-year prison term handed down in Wayne County on a petition to revoke his probation on a possession of less than five grams of methamphetamine conviction, and a four-year prison term handed down in Hamilton County court on a petition to revoke his probation for possession of burglary tools.  The burglary occurred in October of 2023.  Another person arrested with Brockett, 39-year-old Carrie Cullins of Fairfield, is still facing charges of residential burglary and burglary.

The report went on to say that the property owner had been burglarized one week before the incident involving Brockett, and had installed cameras and saw someone remotely trying to break into the home.  No persons were located that night, but two were believed to have crawled under the home and hid out overnight, and were separately arrested in the same area the next day.
