The Illinois State Board of Education has unveiled a $6 million initiative aimed at recruiting teachers, known as The Answer is Teaching campaign.

This innovative marketing effort features real-life accounts from teachers, serving as a source of inspiration for individuals contemplating a career in education.

Recent data from ISBE reveals that the state had over 4,000 vacant teaching positions as of last October, with the highest demand seen in bilingual education, special education, and in both rural and urban areas.

Dr. Tony Sanders, the State Superintendent of Education, highlighted the attractive opportunities for teachers in Illinois, including competitive compensation, comprehensive benefits, a supportive community, and the autonomy to shape their curriculum. The primary objective of the recruitment campaign is not only to address crucial teaching vacancies but also to acknowledge the significant influence teachers have on the lives of their students.

Funded through federal pandemic relief funds, the campaign is scheduled to run until January 2025, aiming to leverage these resources to bolster the teaching workforce in the state.

Individuals interested in pursuing a teaching career can reach out to ISBE by completing a form to connect with a representative who will provide comprehensive information on the pathway to becoming an educator.
