Schools in the Norris City-Omaha-Enfield School District, except for the high school, were placed on a “Secure” status on Tuesday morning following information received from White County Sheriff Jordan Weiss regarding a concerning statement made by a minor on social media that had the potential to impact the schools.
The decision to implement a “Secure” status was made until the situation could be resolved. The high school did not need to go on “Secure” status as the issue was swiftly addressed, and by the time the school’s principal was made aware, the situation had already been resolved.
The White County Sheriff’s Office, Norris City Police, and the NCOE School Resource Officer conducted a thorough investigation into the matter and determined that it did not pose a credible threat.
