The Wayne City Board of Education held its regular August meeting on Thursday, August 15th
During the meeting, Alayna White, President of the Wayne City FFA, shared highlights from the Officer trip to Maine in May, along with updates on other FFA summer activities, including the State Convention and Ag Camp.
The Board approved several consent agenda items, which included the minutes from the July meeting, the elimination of closed session minutes from February 2023, and a six-month review of closed session minutes. They also granted facility usage to the Wayne City Ruritan Club for Bean Day activities. Additionally, FFA trips to the National FFA Convention in Indianapolis and the BUILD Conference in Bloomington were approved. The Board also authorized the removal of surplus inventory items, including a diaper changing table, elementary desks and chairs, and a 2010 Bluebird bus.
In other business, the Board approved the public display of the FY 2025 tentative budget and scheduled a budget hearing for 6:00 PM on Thursday, September 19, 2024. Misty Boyd was hired as a long-term substitute for the part-time art position, and the Board approved seeking bids for a new school bus.
The next regular meeting is set for Thursday, September 19, 2024, in the administrative conference room, following the budget hearing.
