The summer heat has made a comeback in the region.
Dangerously high heat and humidity are spreading west to east across central and southeast Illinois today and into tomorrow. Heat indices are expected to peak today, reaching values of 105 to 115 in the afternoon. Warm to hot conditions will persist until a cold front arrives late Thursday, bringing scattered thunderstorms.
There’s a slight (20%) chance of isolated storms late Tuesday afternoon through Tuesday night, and again on Wednesday. While storm coverage is expected to be limited, any storms that develop could produce localized damaging winds, hail, and heavy rainfall.
