Ray Tate was escorted into the Wayne County Courthouse this (Wednesday) morning in the presence of heavily armed, Local, County, State and U.S. Marshals both outside and inside the courthouse as security was very tight. Tate, who was shackled is appearing on a motion to withdraw his guilty plea in the death of Wayne County Sheriff’s Deputy, Sean Riley whom he murdered in December 2021. Tate is calling six key witnesses to testify on his behalf before Judge Denton Aud who is presiding over the case. Tate was sentenced to life in prison and is currently being held at the Menard Correctional Center in Chester.
