Work continues on the construction of a new water tower for the Village of Burnt Prairie. The tower is being built in Centerville, one of the highest spots in White County. Once completed, the tower will replace an aging tower located across the road and just east of the new facility. The work is part of a major upgrade of the village’s water system, which includes the installation of automatic read water meters. The meter installation has been complete, which resulted in an increase of water rates for the town’s 230 or so customers. The project is being funded through an $899,000 grant and a Water and Waste Disposal Loan in the amount of$576,000.
