A new monument honoring fallen Wayne County Sheriff’s Deputy Sean Riley has been installed on the lawn of the Wayne County Courthouse by volunteers from Volunteers for a Progressive Fairfield (VPF).

Last Friday morning, Josh Rockett from VPF, along with volunteers from LeMond Chevrolet and the Fairfield Cemetery Department, placed the large memorial stone on the east side of the bandstand. The stone was crafted by Big Creek Custom, a sandblasting and laser engraving company based in Olney, using a photograph of Deputy Riley provided by his family.

Rockett noted that the entire bandstand area is set to undergo a landscaping upgrade ahead of the upcoming Fairfield Fall Fun Fest.
