The Fairfield Mules travel tonight to Sesser to battle the Sesser Valier-Waltonville Red Devils in High School Football. Both teams enter tonight’s Black Diamond Conference matchup at 2-0. GIRL’S HIGH SCHOOL GOLF FROM THURSDAY:
Eight teams competed in the Benton Rangerette Classic on Thursday, and the Mt Carmel Lady Aces dominated the team score by placing 6 golfers in the Top-Seven. They finished 78 strokes ahead of second place Marion, finishing -7 under par at 281.
Emily Gottman of Mt Carmel was medalist with a 65, beating Grace Roper of Marion, who fired a 69. The round of 65 (-7) by Gottman is a new school record for Mt Carmel High School.

Bill Bruce Memorial Softball Tournament
Southwest Park in Fairfield
September 14, 2024 – Starting at 9:00am
The tournament will be 2 games played per school. Teams are seeded, 1 vs. 4 and 2 vs 3 play at 9:00am. Losing teams play and winning teams play at 10:30am.
Each game will be played according to SIJHSAA regulations.
Time Limit: A new inning will not be started after the one hour and 15-minute mark.
The top seeded team will be the official scorebook for the game and responsible for keeping time. A traveling trophy will be presented to the winning team. It is the school’s responsibility to have the year and their school name put on the trophy and bring it to the tournament the following year.
