MT VERNON FIRE DEPARTMENT EVACUATES DRURY INN SATURDAY MORNING

By Mark Wells Sep 23, 2024 | 11:57 AM

The Drury Inn in Mt. Vernon was evacuated late Saturday morning due to a haze on the fifth floor. The issue was traced to a freon leak in an air conditioner unit, not a fire. Once repairs were completed, guests were allowed to return.

Initially, Jefferson Fire and Centralia City Firemen were called for mutual aid, while Kell and Wayne City crews covered the Mt. Vernon Fire Station in case of another incident.
