The Fairfield PaintOut runs through Saturday with professional artists from several Midwest states, including Illinois, Missouri, and Ohio in Fairfield for the 13th Annual PaintOut . Artists will have the opportunity to paint throughout the week, culminating in Friday’s Art Show.
The completed, ready-to-hang artwork will be available for purchase at the Premier Exhibit held on Friday evening at Fairfield CP Church with an admission fee of $5 per person. The artists submit their works daily to be displayed. Purchase Award Sponsors are secured prior to the event. Purchase Award Sponsors make a deposit to purchase a painting at the Premier Exhibit. For providing the upfront deposit, Purchase Award Sponsors have first options to purchase the works on exhibit. Anyone interested in being a Purchase Award Sponsor may still make a deposit for a painting with Kristi Hornung at Carnaby Square or during the event prior to the exhibit Friday evening.
Popular activities of the event are the “Nocturne Paint” and the Quick Paint. The Nocturne Paint has the artists painting at night when lighting is a challenge, but the results are some of the most impressive works of the event. The residents of Fairfield will enjoy seeking out the artists during the Nocturne Paint to see what they are painting and visit with them. Artists will be starting their Nocturne paintings this (Wednesday) evening.
During the Quick Paint, a time limit of two hours is specified for completion of paintings. This activity is also well received by artists and community members alike. The Quick Paint will be held tomorrow evening (Thursday) at FCHS during the Freshman football game with Carmi-White County that begins at 6pm. The public is welcome to come view the paintings and visit with the artists at that time, or at the Exhibit on Friday evening.
In honor of Spencer Meagher, a beloved member who passed away in March after battling cancer, the committee plans to introduce new award categories this year. Meagher’s wife, Cindy, will sponsor an award for the Best Use of Light. Additionally, there will be a new award titled “Seeing the World Through Spencer’s Eye,” which will be judged by Dr. Patrick Molt.
